Katherine Ognyanova
Katherine Ognyanova (a.k.a Katya) is a doctoral candidate at the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Southern California. She studies mass communication and media effects, social use of technology, network theory and methodology, Internet censorship, privacy and digital policy-making. Her spare time is split between visits to the San Diego Wild Animal Park and visits to the xkcd website.
Katya is Bulgarian, absent-minded and prone to getting lost in three-dimensional spaces. Those qualities have played a major role in her decision to leave the media industry, escape software engineering, and opt for an academic lifestyle.
